Amazon has expanded its team-up with Ubisoft to implement an official storefront where users can buy the developer's titles for permanent PC access.

Amazon Luna users can now buy and keep Assassin's Creed Mirage and other Ubisoft games as part of a partnership between the two companies to sell single titles on the platform.

After an expansion of a previous partnership between Amazon and French game developer/publisher Ubisoft that let subscribers stream their purchased PC games through the service, Luna will now sell select Ubisoft titles for full-time ownership on the platform. Purchased titles are then available to download on a PC via Ubisoft's PC launcher Ubisoft Connect for offline play, as well as on Luna through its usual game streaming methods.

Amazon Luna is the e-commerce site's recent effort to expand into the growing cloud gaming industry, which involves streaming video games from a central server to a television screen or online service via a monthly subscription fee. Unlike Google's previous cloud gaming console effort, the Stadia, which required users to purchase individual titles at full retail price in order to access them on the platform, Luna gives subscribers unlimited access to a pre-selected library of games for a monthly fee.

With its new partnership with Ubisoft, however, the platform is taking a step toward Stadia's business model, as it will allow subscribers to pay full price for a license to a digital game, which will add it to their permanent library on both Luna and Ubisoft Connect. Currently, Ubisoft's Luna storefront contains several games from the Assassin's Creed franchise, including the newest entry, Mirage, as well as most of the games in the Far Cry series and several Tom Clancy titles, among various others.

Luna subscribers also have access to a library of hundreds of games, from recent AAA releases to indie games and free-to-play titles playable on any device enabled with the service. Prime members also get access to a monthly lineup of free games, such as this month's offerings, Devil May Cry 5 and The Jackbox Party Pack 7.

Currently, Ubisoft is the only developer with an official storefront on Luna's homepage, though the company is reportedly in talks to expand its partnerships with other publishers even further. As of now, however, Amazon has not revealed any specific plans to implement purchasable games from other developers.

While purchased games are available permanently via Ubisoft Connect after purchase, streaming them through Amazon Luna still requires a subscription to the service or an Amazon Prime membership. For subscribers, Amazon Luna is available on Fire TV devices, Google Chromebooks and mobile phones, and for offline players, Ubisoft Connect is available on PC.
